Seen for sale at Henry Pearman's, www.historicclassics.com
"Chassis number 220636 and build number 332, this fabulous example (one of the last to be built) was manufactured in October 1993 and despatched to St Hellier Garage on Jersey in December that year.
It was kept with only delivery mileage until 1998, and in 1999 was first registered, in Jersey, and wore the registration number J 220. By the end of the year it returned to the mainland, having covered 1,334
kms, for leading Jaguar specialists to conduct a comprehensive service and apply the improvements to the
braking system and clutch that had been developed since production.
This work was completed in time for trips to Le Mans and Monaco in 2000. In June 2001, the car was
serviced by the supplying Jaguar dealer in Jersey at a mileage of 5,455 kms. In February 2002 it was sold to a leading UK-based specialist with only a few hundred kilometres added to the mileage, and they carried out a full 10,000 kms comprehensive service. They also registered it in the UK and it was soon acquired by us for our own collection.
We sold it to the last owner in July 2004, and he has enjoyed a further 3,100 miles with the car, and
maintained it to the very highest standards possible, using the recognized leading specialists in this iconic model.
Overall, the XJ220 was the right car – but finally released for production at the wrong time, a victim of
the fanatical development to ensure it became absolutely ‘right’ as a usable road car, which simply took
too long. It is extremely docile to drive (despite being based around the latest and sensational world
championship Group C Jaguar race car of the time) and is, naturally, an incredible and exciting car when
unleashed.
Had the McLaren F1 not subsequently eclipsed it, it would have held the title of world’s fastest production car for many years, and it offers remarkable value today for such a rare, beautiful and exciting car from one of Le Mans’ most famous marques."

In late ’99 the car was sent to a mainland UK specialists with an upgrade given to its brake system and a new lighter clutch was fitted. Its most recent owner has had the car since July 2004. Sellers description:
One of the very first cars to leave the works, this particular example was delivered new in 1992 by the Jaguar main agent in St. Helier, Jersey. There it resided until it was sold back to the UK in 2002. Serviced initially by Jaguar Sport and then by marque specialists J.D. Classics, this particular example boasts a mechanical service record to far eclipse that of most XJ 220s to have entered the market in recent times. Albeit well famed for their ferocious power and stratospheric top speed, the Jaguar XJ 220 often draws criticism for the a lack of low-speed driveability and surprisingly poor brakes. In mid-2001 it received a full and thorough service to resolve these maladies.
Fitment of a considerably softer clutch along with modifications to the hydraulics makes parking and town driving much less of a chore, but the work carried out to the brakes is particularly commendable. The master cylinder has been re-engineered and the front and rear callipers have had the valves re-rated, thus resulting in considerably more brake pressure. Along with the brake pad upgrade the car seems transformed and makes for a far more reassuring driving experience. Additional work carried out included changing the cam-belt, driveshaft bearings and a full service. Important to note is that during its annual service in August 2005 the bag tanks were also changed (an expensive process required every 10 years) and a new set of tyres were fitted.
Commensurate with its low mileage of 5.500 km and fastidious service record, the car is in extremely good condition overall. Included is the original factory tool kit, service and handbooks and invoices relating to the vehicle's maintenance.
