car was owned by Connolly Leather c 1993 and in fact had uncoloured Connolly hide upholstery!
car number is 290
XJ220's have 4 distinct numbering systems
Abbey body build no. in fact Abbey panels made body number plates that TWR wouldn't let them fit
TWR build no.
Commision number ie SAJJEAEX8AX220715 and believe it or not they started in reverse order ie the first car built had the highest VIN number
Then they had the number on the sill plate which effectively was the order number fom the customer so the lower the number on the sill plate the earlier the customer had ordered the car or arranged delivery.

I just received the original accessory overmats which were supplied with this car new. see 220625 for illustrations. Interesting in as much as the binding is vinyl, not leather and the embroidered logo is BRG and silver. Both are in as new condition. What is also interesting is that the shape is slightly different from the 'production' mats. The originality of these has been confirmed by a very knowledgeable member of the original TWR staff.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
