This 1993 Jaguar XJ220 is one of approximately 280 examples built during two years of production and was dispatched from the factory on July 2, 1993. The car is said to have spent 12 years on the 37th floor of a Tokyo office building before being purchased in 2015 by a Los Angeles collector who imported it to the US, after which it appeared on an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. It then participated in the 2016 goldRushRally in Boston before later being shown at the 2022 Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance. The aluminum bodywork is finished in Le Mans Blue over Smoke Grey leather, and power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 mated to a five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Additional features include a bonded aluminum chassis, a glass roof panel, AP Racing disc brakes, staggered-diameter Speedline wheels, air conditioning, and a CD stereo. This XJ220 was purchased by the selling dealer in 2022 and is now offered as part of DriverSource’s Legends Vol. III collection with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a clean Carfax report, and a Texas title.
The XJ220 set a production-car record with a top speed of 212.3 mph in stock form during 1991 testing before entering production the following year. An XJ220 with its catalytic converters removed then raised the record to 217.1 mph in June 1992.
Aluminum bodywork was constructed by Abbey Panels, Ltd. of Coventry, England. This example was delivered from the factory in Le Mans Blue and features a front air dam, retractable headlight covers, louvers at the base of the windshield and rear window to stabilize airflow, underbody venturi tunnels that extend into a rear diffuser, electrically adjustable side mirrors, intake scoops aft of the doors, a glass roof panel, and a trunk-mounted rear spoiler. Various imperfections in the finish are shown up close in the photo gallery below.
Speedline Corse-designed alloy wheels measure 17” up front and 18” at the rear and are secured by center-lock nuts. Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires measure 255/45ZR17 up front and 345/35ZR18 at the rear. AP Racing-designed brakes comprise ventilated and cross-drilled discs measuring 13” in diameter up front and 11.8” out back that are acted upon all around by four-piston aluminum calipers.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of a 360-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and gauges monitoring oil pressure and temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The instrument binnacle extends over the adjacent door panel, where a clock, an ammeter, and gauges showing boost pressure and transaxle temperature are housed. The six-digit odometer shows 8k kilometers (~5k miles), approximately five of which have been added under current ownership.
The selling dealer recommends that the car receive a full service and inspection before road use.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle equipped with a limited-slip differential. Suspension incorporates unequal-length wishbones, inboard coilover Bilstein gas-filled shock absorbers, and anti-roll bars.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists the original colors and dispatch date.
